Milan, London and new winter fashion!

27-04-2010

OK So maybe “blogging” is not my thing! How can it possibly be nearly a year since I updated this blog? So I think the trick is keeping it short and snappy.

When I last wrote I was on my way to Milan and London to the trade shows. All very exciting especially London Fashion Week which has had a new lease of life with the return of major British Labels like Burberry to the catwalk. I did not attend any of the runway shows but did lots of people watching and looked at the side shows of accessories and “New Gen” which are up and coming new British Designers. You have to hand it to the Brits they can never be called staid!!! Punk fashion, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney all standouts in the fashion field and all British!!!!!

Found some fabulous accessories which are now in store. Things like Liberty of London scarves, “The Necker!” Scarf from Jane Carr (www.jane-carr.co.uk), gorgeous bags from Alison Van Der Lands (www.alisonvanderlande.com) and to die for cashmere wraps hand spun, woven and dyed in Nepal in the traditional way (www.ahilya.com)

All our winter stock is now in and looking lovely, even if it is 28 degrees!!!. So pop in and have a look or email if you have any queries I may not be good at “blogging” but I do answer my emails.

Till next time, remember: "If the shoe fits buy it in every colour!”

Hi

01-09-2009

Just looked at the website and realized I haven’t updated it since the 1st of July. Goodness how time flies!

Well it is now nearly spring and as such our new season arrivals are coming in thick and fast. At last the Beatrix Ong, Sigerson Morrison and Rupert Sanderson are here. They are FABULOUS! The collections are exciting and different and exclusive to Escalatoo Shoes. I am sure we have covered all bases and have something for everyone. From high heels to lovely flats.

I have just come back from viewing the collections for Winter 2009/2010. Have discovered a couple of new labels like Sempre Di, and Tom Gunn. Both of these labels are designed in Australia and made in Italy. Tom Gunn is made up of two gorgeous girls from Brisbane who are very innovative and were showing their third season so we have decided to give them a go. We have done a lovely long flat boot, an ankle boot and a gorgeous shoe. All our other labels will be covered too. Highlight colours for next winter will be Electric Blue and Bottle Green with lots of textured leathers as well.

Next week I am off to London and Milan to view the ranges for summer 2010. I know so far ahead. I will visit Rupert Sanderson’s showroom in London to view the “Cruise Line” and also visit Beatrix Ong. After that it is off to Milan to the trade fair. When I get back to London it is time for London Fashion Week and I am hoping to pick up a couple of new accessory labels for the shop.

So do pop in while I am away and have a look at the new collections I am sure there is something for everyone. In the meantime I will keep you posted when I get back as to news from the fashion world!!!

Cheers

Hi There

01-07-2009

At last our new website is up and running and I for one am very excited about it. As a bit of a "luddite" from the older generation, I sometimes find the internet and computers a bit baffling. Having said that my first ever job was as a computer operator looking after a computer that probably wasn’t as powerful as today’s notebooks, which took up a whole room!

Needless to say things nowadays are a bit easier to manage. I hope that via this website we will be able to communicate and trade information about not only Escalatoo Shoes but also the designers and labels we chose to work with.

In this the launch edition we have chosen "Beatrix Ong" (www.beatrixong.com) as our designer. Beatrix worked for Jimmy Choo as a designer before launching her own label. She has the most gorgeous shop in the Burlington Arcade in London just opposite Fortnum and Masons and is involved in London Fashion Week and all manner of other collaborations. Check out the YouTube video. This was used to launch this summer collection and the shoes are worn by ballet dancers and given their own personality by each one. Escalatoo will be the only retailer in Perth who will stock this lovely label for next summer.

Another of our favorite designers is Rupert Sanderson. Rupert writes a blog for Vogue so if you get a chance go to the Vogue UK website (www.vougue.co.uk) and have a look at his take on all sorts of different topics from Monte Carlo to Rain boots!

I will try to update this little blog as often as I can and bring you any news. Presently looking at the new winter collection for next year so may put up a bit of a look book so you can give me some feed back on what you love and what you hate. In the meantime feel free to email me anytime or pop into the shop and have a chat.

Cheers
